Essential Eight Strategies to Mitigate Cyber Security Incidents for SMBs
The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) provides the Department of Defence with signals and information security intelligence. In 2010, the ASD publicly released a list of 35 security measures businesses and government departments could implement to lower the risk of being compromised in a cyber attack. The top 4 measures (ASD Top 4) were said to prevent around 84% of attacks.
In February 2017, the ASD expanded their Top 4 to an Essential 8, providing businesses with further guidance on the next areas to focus on. Businesses who have implemented all 8 of these can be said to have built a solid security foundation for their business.
Adoption of these strategies can be a challenge initially for any business. To help smaller businesses understand and adopt these important measures we've created a quick training course to help put them into context for a small business owner.
The course will step you through each of the 8 strategies, explaining what they are and why they are important to the security of your business.
