OAIC choose to fine you for not appropriately handling a harmful data breach

The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) are responsible for the Privacy Act which is the legislation that says what you can and can't do with the personally identifiable information (PII) you collect about Australians. If the PII your business collects is breached you personally could be fined up to $340,000 and your business up to $1.7 million.
